There is a warning that closed businesses are being targeted by burglars, which means that now is the ideal time to consider installing intruder alarms in Bristol, or wherever your business is based.
Bristol Live recently reported that a hair salon was recently burgled after having been targeted because it is closed due to the lockdown currently in place in England to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Nuala Morey salon, which is located on Gloucester Road, was broken into around 2.15pm on 21 January. The salon shared the news of the incident on its Instagram page, which has 63,500 followers.
In the post on social media, the salon owner revealed that there have been other similar break ins in the same area in recent weeks and urged other business owners to be vigilant.
“Please be aware and make sure there is no opportunity for anyone to be able to get in. They are targeting businesses that are closed,” the post read.
Avon and Somerset Police told the newspaper that they are conducting enquiries and urged anyone with any information to come forward.
The Somerset County Gazette recently reported that 6,700 burglaries were recorded by Avon and Somerset Police in 2020. Although this represented a decline from 2019, the area is still ranked 11th in England and Wales for the number of burglaries that occur.
Between January and November 2020, there was a 23 per cent reduction in the number of burglaries being reported in the region compared to the same period a year earlier. However, home and business owners are being urged to keep on top of their home security and not get complacent.
